Orders being taken for MG TF LE500s

Keith Adams

Pre-production TF LE 500 at the Longbridge showroom...

FOR those who thought this moment would never come, following a series of launches, counter-launches and rumours, the first major batch of pre-production MG TF LE500s have been pictured at Longbridge and will be in the dealers shortly. It's now your chance to buy one and, having seen the cars, we can say that they look great. According to our man in the know, they're also good to drive, feeling very much like the last-of-line 2005 cars, even if the engine note is slightlier tinnier, and the interior quality has been improved in places.

We have heard that orders are now being taken for these Longbridge built cars, although confirmation of pricing and specification will have to wait until the beginning of next week. Here's a run-down of what you get - but no prices yet, although our man in the trade says, 'the 500 will be around £16,000 including hard top and air conditioning.'

• Revised body styling
• Leather seats
• Air conditioning as standard
• Body colour hardtop as standard
• Anti-lock brakes with EBD
• Windstop as standard
• Glass rear windscreen as standard
• Front disc brakes with 4-pot calipers in red, plus rear disc brakes.
• 16in 11-spoke alloy wheels with Shadow Chrome or Black finish
• Single slot CD player with media player Direct Control, 3 Pre-Outs and wireless device compatibility.
• Piano black interior finish & revised instrumentation
• Unique LE500 badging, graphics & trim items.

NAC MG UK Limited maintain that, from the outset, the company's objective has been to produce a desirable sports car that offers performance, fun, reliability and value for money in equal measure. AROnline understands that the revised TF will have a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty and three year European roadside assistance package.

If you're interested in buying one, drop SMC-Cars a line, and they'll fill you in...
